THE RECOUP (Group)

Active · Resident of Project REPLICA

THE RECOUP are 96 Grand, Young Trace and 99 Keys, three equal Compton rappers turning recording-industry economics into a past-present-future argument. Lived experience, exact proof and creator-owned possibility share the same West Coast frame.

The Group's members are 96 Grand / Andre Coleman, Young Trace / DeShawn Ellis, 99 Keys / Isaiah Turner. It is active from 2026–present as a resident of Project REPLICA on FARA Records.

Origins

The trio first worked together while unpacking an opaque royalty statement in a small independent session. 96 Grand recognised the old pattern, Young Trace traced each movement and 99 Keys refused to stop at diagnosis, sketching what a transparent alternative would require. The group name arrived when 'we recoup' stopped sounding like a label's excuse and became an artist-owned claim.

The source anchor for the Group is: No meeting story or date is supplied. The group roles form a past/present/future argument about recording-industry economics.

Formation and member roles

96 Grand carries lived-deal past; Young Trace carries present proof/accounting; 99 Keys carries creator-owned future/system building.

96 Grand supplies memory without grievance theatre, Young Trace supplies proof without accountant caricature and 99 Keys supplies optimism without utopian salesmanship. Each must challenge the weakness of the other two positions.

Musical style and method

THE RECOUP works across West Coast conscious rap, G-funk-adjacent hip-hop, industry-critique rap.

Build songs from one document, term or transaction path, then translate it into human consequence. Every claim must remain legible, generic and non-defamatory; future-system ideas stay conceptual unless real infrastructure is verified.

The recurring themes are recoupment, transparent accounting, creator ownership, access, proof, legacy.

Public image

Three equal forward positions with a shared evidence table behind them. Paper and counters become moving light geometry, not readable real contracts or financial dashboards.

Compton golden-hour realism with reclaimed generic paperwork, proof marks, counters, keys and master-tape ownership motifs.

Warm Compton streets, copy-paper white, ledger green, weathered gold and asphalt black; calm possession rather than luxury flex, with natural faces and age parity.

AURA Live

AURA Live brings THE RECOUP into physical venues as full-scale Project REPLICA presences. The Group's live image preserves every member's identity and role while translating its shared performance language into the room.

Realisation

THE RECOUP is an openly AI-realised Group from FARA Records under human writing, direction, curation, editing and final approval. The making of the work remains part of the work.
