KEEP UP

Los Angeles, CA · b. 2002 & 2003 · FARA Records

KEEP UP is Dahlia and Juno, two best friends from Los Angeles who were a friendship before they were an act — and it's audible. They met on a rink floor, arguing about a song; neither will say which one, and their accounts of who was right still don't match. The name comes from their own post-chorus chant: an instruction, a taunt and an invitation, in that order.

The defining rule is that there is no fixed lead. No frontwoman, no backing singer — they trade lines, finish each other's sentences, talk over each other and chant together, and on any given bar it should be genuinely unclear who is in charge, because nobody is. Dahlia is the warmer, lower, groove-anchored half who opens a section and sets its rhythm. Juno is the sharper, faster, higher half who closes it and lands the turn. The laughter and the interruptions are left in on purpose. The act falls apart the moment anybody treats one of them as the star.

Dahlia Monroe Price (b. 10 May 2002) grew up inside Black LA's continuous roller-rink culture — a living institution rather than a retro novelty — and learned to skate before she could really dance. She decided early that a lot of what gets called nostalgia is just people insisting the party stopped when they left, and she writes to a tempo before she writes to a topic: if the words can't keep up with the skate rhythm, she throws out the words. Warm, fast, unbothered.

Juno Elise Barrera-Wynn (b. 16 March 2003) grew up in LA getting asked “what are you?” by people who thought they were making conversation, and got extremely funny extremely early because a joke was a faster exit than an answer — and let her leave with the room on her side. That's the root of her whole comic register: an edge that never tips into cruelty, because she knows exactly what it feels like to be the one being explained to. She talked her way into music through crowd work and ad-libs before working out that the talking was the music. Sharp, funny, generous.

What they are

KEEP UP is an AI-realised act from FARA Records — Fully Artificial, Radically Authentic, the AI-native label of SPATIALx. The lyrics, emotional brief, arrangement and production behind every act on the label come from human writers and directors. Suno renders the vocal and musical takes from there, and the results are handed back to be curated, re-prompted, edited and mastered until they say exactly what they were built to say. We don't hide any of it — the seams are part of the art. This isn't AI filler standing in for a band. It's real songwriting, real direction, and a voice that didn't exist before.
