A midnight-highway confession, half gospel and half getaway, sung by a man who trusts nothing left but the road under him.

MUSIC TRACK STORY

Dust & Chrome is the debut single from JERICHO (Eli Marsh), who grew up in Deep South poverty and now calls Phoenix home, and who spent the better part of a decade putting highway between himself and everything that raised him until the road itself became the only thing he still trusted.

Music Track Story

Dust & Chrome collides outlaw and Southern-gothic country storytelling with the menace of drift and country-phonk — distorted 808 bass sits under cowbell, a steel-guitar riff and slide, and dusty analog texture, with samples of an engine revving and tires finding the highway. Carried by a raspy, weathered, half-sung half-spoken drawl, it plays like a man narrating his own myth in real time.

The song traces one man's decision to choose the open road as his church, his kingdom, and his devil, moving through a pawned inheritance and a woman left behind before it arrives at a whispered, unguarded confession at the bridge — the record's honest low point. By the final chorus the song has quietly rewritten its own gospel, and then the music gives way to nothing but highway static, the narrator never shown arriving anywhere at all.

A genuine genre collision — Southern-gothic outlaw storytelling laid over distorted country-phonk 808s and cowbell, a whispered confession at the bridge, the record's most honest moment, a final chorus that quietly rewrites its own gospel, and a track that opens on an engine rev and closes in highway static, never showing its narrator arrive.
