August Vane
New York City · b. 1998 · FARA Records
Full Bio / WikiAugust Vane (b. 21 December 1998) is from New York, and the name is invented — he built it himself at nineteen, and that isn't incidental to the work. Nobody has called him Danny in eight years, including his mother; he never asked her to stop. On the surname: a vane is the thing on a roof that turns whichever way the wind pushes it. It's also vain. It's also vein. He's been asked in every interview since and has never confirmed which he meant, and it's entirely possible he meant all three and equally possible he's forgotten.
He grew up as the kid who could do voices, who could make a room laugh, and who understood by about eleven that this was a currency worth spending. Musical theatre was the obvious next step — the only profession that pays you to be somebody else on purpose. First Broadway ensemble at twenty-one, doing extremely well by every professional measure: eight shows a week, same part, same lines, same bow. He can date exactly when it turned. Somewhere in his second year of the same run, standing in the wings, he realised he'd started doing the part offstage too — that the version of himself he took to dinner had blocking. The frightening part wasn't that the mask was uncomfortable. It was that it fit, and that people liked it better.
He's a piano player first, and an actor's instrument rather than a singer's: he doesn't simply belt, he plays four different men across six minutes and they have to sound like the same one on different nights. On stage he's enormous, generous and extremely good at it — which is exactly the problem, and he'd be the first to say so. Funny between songs, warm with a crowd, takes the bow properly. And every so often, on a good night, something slips and there's a two-second gap where you can see a man wondering what he's doing. That's the only part of the show he doesn't control. He still works in theatre, and gets visibly irritated when the story gets told as a rebellion, because it wasn't one. Charming, watchful, unresolved.
What they are
August Vane is an AI-realised act from FARA Records — Fully Artificial, Radically Authentic, the AI-native label of SPATIALx. The lyrics, emotional brief, arrangement and production behind every act on the label come from human writers and directors. Suno renders the vocal and musical takes from there, and the results are handed back to be curated, re-prompted, edited and mastered until they say exactly what they were built to say. We don't hide any of it — the seams are part of the art. This isn't AI filler standing in for a band. It's real songwriting, real direction, and a voice that didn't exist before.
