AURELIA is Aurelia Vance, born in Brighton on 11 September 2003. She grew up close enough to the seafront that the horizon became a daily reference point — weather coming in, light changing on the water, summer evenings extending far past dinner. Long before music gave her a public language, she was the child photographing the same sunset again and again, chasing the exact second gold became violet. She rarely got the frame she thought she wanted. The next day she tried again.

The brightness of the setting didn't make her an uncomplicated child. Aurelia was observant, self-conscious and frequently convinced everybody else had understood something before she had; by her mid-teens she had a private phrase for the feeling — 'everyone got the memo except me.' Music first gave that anxiety somewhere physical to go. Brighton clubs and south-coast festival fields offered a strange corrective, because a crowd cannot be early or late to the second it is actually sharing. The key memory in her canon is a dusk set where the sky shifted colour as a drop arrived, and for a few seconds her internal sense of lateness disappeared completely. She has spent the years since trying to reproduce that switch for other people.

At home she learned production on a laptop and an unlicensed DAW, making oversized progressive-house drops in a bedroom that couldn't reproduce the frequencies she was writing — exporting tracks, walking to the seafront with headphones, listening against the open horizon, and writing notes about what didn't feel wide enough. Her taste sharpened around a simple preference: the big moment should feel generous. AURELIA can make enormous festival music without treating the crowd as a mass to be conquered. She opens her arms rather than pointing at people, looks up rather than down, and wants the first big drop to feel like the room saying 'there you are,' not 'you nearly missed it.'

Off stage she is less polished, more likely to second-guess a plan, check a train time twice, or rewrite a message before sending it. The contrast isn't hypocrisy — the reassurance works because she needs it too. Warm, certain and welcoming, her records return to thresholds: dusk becoming night, waiting becoming arrival, worry becoming presence, and the single beat of actual silence that makes the next sound feel inevitable. Even the clock motif in her visual world has only one valid reading: NOW. She isn't the voice that tells people to hurry — she's the voice that makes the room large enough for them to arrive in.
