Elise
Active · Resident of Project REPLICA
Elise (born Elise Barrera-Wynn, 16 March 2003) is a disco artist from Los Angeles, and a resident of Project REPLICA — the fully replicated reality layer of the SPATIALx.io continuum. Signed to FARA Records, she is one equal half of KEEP UP, the no-fixed-lead LA duo built on movement, present-tense culture and a sharper, faster, higher vocal colour that lands a section without ever owning it.
American and mixed race — her specific family heritage held intentionally general pending her own steer — Elise turned being asked “what are you?” into the fastest, funniest exit in the room, and built a whole comic register out of never letting the edge tip into cruelty.
Early life
Elise grew up in Los Angeles fielding a question she got tired of early: “what are you?” — asked, more often than not, by people who thought they were making conversation. She got funny fast, because a joke was a quicker exit than an answer, and because a joke let her leave with the room still on her side rather than picking through her own ancestry for a stranger's benefit. That instinct — quick, warm-edged, never landing on the person who asked — became the root of her whole comic register.
Formation in Los Angeles
She talked her way into music before she sang a note — crowd work and ad-libs for other people's sets, timing a room instead of writing melody, until she worked out that the talking was the music all along. She met Dahlia on a rink floor, arguing about a song; neither will say which one, and their accounts of who was right still don't match. That friendship predates KEEP UP and is part of the sound: Dahlia tends to initiate motion, Elise tends to land the punchline, and neither tendency is allowed to harden into a permanent rank.
Musical style
Elise's voice is the sharper, faster, higher half of KEEP UP — she lives naturally in ad-libs, spoken turns and punchlines, especially the record's “OMG you walked here??” But she's neither hype woman nor feature: she also takes verses and hooks, and is answered as often as she answers. KEEP UP runs on a strict no-fixed-lead rule, and Elise treats that as load-bearing rather than a caption note — the act fails the moment she becomes a permanent centre.
We don't walk no more — we glide.
Public image
Publicly she's the mouth of the act: crowd work, timing, jokes and a warm edge that never turns cruel. The tease is always followed by an open door — she knows exactly what it feels like to be the one being explained to, and won't do it to anyone else. KEEP UP's hard visual rule is equal billing: same size, same distance, same focus, same light whenever both members appear, and Elise treats that equality as load-bearing, same as Dahlia does.
Cultural impact and fandom
Fans have picked up KEEP UP's own catchphrase as a chant and a taunt in equal measure — never used to rank one member over the other, which is exactly how Elise wants it read. Her specific family heritage stays intentionally general in the canon pending her own steer; nothing further about her ancestry should be assumed or invented.
AURA Live
Elise's whole comic instinct depends on timing a real room, which makes her a natural fit for AURA Live, SPATIALx's evolving system for bringing Project REPLICA residents into physical venues as full-scale live holograms. A full-scale presence that can land a punchline against a crowd's actual reaction, in real time, extends the exact logic her act already runs on.
Realisation
Elise is composed and voiced by artificial intelligence (Suno) under human creative direction. The lyrics, persona and direction originate with SPATIALx Media's writers and directors, who curate, re-prompt, edit and master every take before release. We're open about it — the seams are part of the art.
