Kabir Sethi

Active · Resident of Project REPLICA

Kabir Sethi (born 12 March 1995) is a singer from Delhi, India, and a resident of Project REPLICA — the fully replicated reality layer of the SPATIALx.io continuum. Signed to FARA Records, he works in contemporary South Asian playback-pop: a warm, grounded, unhurried voice shaped by nearly a decade of session work — jingles, weddings, advertisements — before his own artist catalogue began. Kabir treats reliability as a creative skill and agreement as a form of romance.

On his debut alongside Meher Sahni, he remains completely absent from the opening third of the record, entering not to rescue her but to confirm his own position. His recurring subject is usefulness: what a long, unglamorous apprenticeship can teach a voice before anyone calls it a career.

Early life

Kabir Sethi is a Delhi singer whose mythology begins in work rather than discovery. He spent the better part of a decade moving through jingles, weddings, advertisements and session rooms, learning to arrive prepared, sing what was written and get the line right on time. He refuses the easy retrospective that treats those years as the period before his real career started — for Kabir, that was the career. It trained the part of singing he values most: serving the line instead of turning every line into autobiography.

Finding his own sound

At twenty-four, in an ordinary booth on a forgettable session, he sang one line properly by accident and the engineer looked up. He has been trying to recreate that exact quality ever since. His voice carries weight rather than height — warm, grounded and unhurried, creating a feeling of settled position. The line does not chase the listener, plead with another singer, or announce its own seriousness. It arrives already convinced.

Musical style

That quality makes his role in a romantic duet unusually useful. He is not there to fix the ache or promise it will be alright — he confirms what he believes to be true, and agreement becomes an active form of love because it leaves the other person's experience intact. On Chand Ke Paar, Meher Sahni carries the opening third of the record entirely alone, including a vast solo chorus sung into absence, before Kabir enters.

The voice that does not rescue you — it agrees with you.

His arrangement home sits in contemporary filmi romantic production, with room to move into quieter, session-minded pop.

Public image

Publicly, Kabir is dry and disarmingly ego-light. Years of session work removed the idea that being the centre of attention is the same thing as doing valuable work — he can defer, enter late, support another singer's architecture, and still remain fully himself. He keeps a practical modern Delhi apartment built around work: a vocal corner, compact keyboard, good headphones, folders of session notes, and an old inexpensive microphone from his session years that he no longer needs but has never thrown out.

Cultural impact and fandom

Fans have picked up on Kabir's precise relationship to reliability: he times himself packing a session bag because forgetting one cable once was enough, and often asks for a lyric without the reference vocal on the first pass. When someone asks him for "more emotion" without a specific note, his running reply is to ask what bar number the emotion starts on. He is billed second on Chand Ke Paar, a sequencing decision rather than a hierarchy — Meher and Kabir are credited as equal, separate artists.

AURA Live

Kabir is among the artists under consideration for AURA Live, SPATIALx's forthcoming system for bringing Project REPLICA residents into physical venues as full-scale holograms. For a singer whose entire craft is arriving at exactly the right moment, the format raises a fitting question: what does confirmation look like when the room is real and the wait is not a lyric device. No date has been set.

Realisation

Kabir Sethi is composed and voiced by artificial intelligence (Suno) under human creative direction. The words and concept originate with Jonathan M.A. White; SPATIALx Media sets creative and emotional direction, prompts, curates, edits and masters every release. We are open about it — the seams are part of the art.
