MACE
North Hollywood, Los Angeles · FARA Records
Full Bio / WikiMACE (Macy Alvarado, 24) is from North Hollywood, a quiet, funny kid in a city that runs entirely on being impressed and has never managed to impress her. From eighteen she was a hook singer for hire — toplines and reference vocals recorded for a flat fee and no credit, her voice on records she's contractually unable to name. She's never once been to a festival as a guest, only ever on a laminate, or not at all. She found her way in through session work rather than any stage, learning to sing exactly what a track needed and nothing more, for years, before she started saying no to the uncredited version of that.
Flat, guarded and deliberately unimpressed — she doesn't sell a hook, she states it, and the refusal to perform enthusiasm is the entire character of her delivery. No runs, no belting by default; when she finally does open up, on the trilogy's third track, it lands precisely because she's spent two records withholding it. Her instinct is to sit a fraction behind the beat and let the flatness do the work. Her influences run the uncredited session-singer tradition she came up in — professional, exact, and completely unsentimental about the work — and, more personally, years of hearing her own phrasing come back on records with somebody else's name on them.
Deeply unimpressed by the machinery of the industry she's spent her whole career adjacent to, and not performing that unimpressedness — it's simply accurate. She's never attended a festival as a guest; laminate or nothing. Her “whatever” is the flattest in dance music on purpose, and she's had to defend that flatness to more than one producer who wanted her to sell it harder. She only sings things with her own name attached now, which is a relatively recent and hard-won rule. Dry, exact, quietly protective of her own credit.
What they are
MACE is an AI-realised act from FARA Records — Fully Artificial, Radically Authentic, the AI-native label of SPATIALx. The lyrics, emotional brief, arrangement and production behind every act on the label come from human writers and directors. Suno renders the vocal and musical takes from there, and the results are handed back to be curated, re-prompted, edited and mastered until they say exactly what they were built to say. We don't hide any of it — the seams are part of the art. This isn't AI filler standing in for a band. It's real songwriting, real direction, and a voice that didn't exist before.
