Mirabel
Five Points, Denver · b. 1998 · FARA Records
Full Bio / WikiMirabel (Mirabel Josephine Hayes, b. 28 October 1998) is from Five Points, Denver — the historic heart of Black Denver, and a neighbourhood with a real and largely unsung music history: a genuine jazz destination for decades, a place the touring greats actually played. Not a footnote to anywhere else, but its own thing, at altitude, a mile from anywhere. She grew up mixed race in a city that mostly didn't know what to do with that, in a neighbourhood that mostly did — which is the origin of everything she writes about: the difference between rooms where you have to explain yourself and rooms where you simply don't. Her grandmother chose her name, which comes from the Latin for to be beheld, decades before she wrote a song about a light finding you in a dark room. She considers this the single funniest fact of her life.
She found the second kind of room twice. First in church, which is where the voice comes from — gospel-trained, a technical fact you can hear in every sustained note rather than a stylistic flourish. Then on a dancefloor, which turned out to be a revelation with the identical shape: a room of people lifted together, nobody watching, everybody witnessed, except this time nobody was asking her to be anything. She has said the two rooms are the same room, and her whole catalogue is an argument that they are. Her records sit in the full Philadelphia disco tradition — four-on-the-floor throughout, chicken-scratch guitar on the upbeats, a melodic hook-carrying bass, soaring strings, horn stabs on the offbeat, and a backing choir that functions as the room itself.
A host rather than a headliner. She spends a set making the room feel seen — she turns the house lights onto the crowd at least once every show, on the grounds that a mirror ball doesn't make its own light either, it just distributes one beam to everybody, and she would like the lighting desk to remember that. She talks to people directly and means it. Nothing ironic, nothing guarded, no cool distance anywhere in her, and it is completely disarming. Warm, unapologetic, generous.
What they are
Mirabel is an AI-realised act from FARA Records — Fully Artificial, Radically Authentic, the AI-native label of SPATIALx. The lyrics, emotional brief, arrangement and production behind every act on the label come from human writers and directors. Suno renders the vocal and musical takes from there, and the results are handed back to be curated, re-prompted, edited and mastered until they say exactly what they were built to say. We don't hide any of it — the seams are part of the art. This isn't AI filler standing in for a band. It's real songwriting, real direction, and a voice that didn't exist before.
