Full Bio / WikiNot the Cage is the stage name of Miles Sorrell, born in Ithaca, New York in 2001. For years he assumed the posture and constant self-editing he'd learned early on were simply who he was — not something imposed on him at all.
The record's whole arc grew out of the slow work of separating himself from the shape he'd been pressed into. Even the stage name carries that idea forward: it's the same four words as the song's own title, rearranged — the cage and its opposite, built from identical material.
On stage he stays controlled and resonant until the chorus demands otherwise, earning its release rather than performing one. Precise, contained, hard-won.
