Rumor
Chicago · New York-based · b. 2001 · FARA Records
Full Bio / WikiRumor (Sadie Roth, b. 12 July 2001) is a Chicago kid of the exact cusp generation — old enough to half-remember a world before everyone had a phone, young enough to have basically grown up on the feed. Sharp and sardonic, the family’s designated “well, actually,” she watched the internet go from a place you visited to the air everyone breathes — and got fascinated, and a little horrified, by how a claim with no source becomes “fact” just because enough people repeat it. She moved to New York and started turning that horror into very catchy, very ironic pop.
She was making sharp, funny observations long before she was making songs — the move was realising she could smuggle a whole media-criticism thesis inside a chorus you can’t stop chanting. Her trick: make the verse roll its eyes and the chorus mean it. Her sound sits in the neon-synth Blinding-Lights lineage with the dry, conversational wit of Lily Allen, Lorde and Olivia Rodrigo’s sharper moments — pop with a thesis, irony you can dance to.
On stage she’s deadpan and quick — a raised-eyebrow wit who narrates the timeline like she’s reading you the group chat, then drops the irony and goes full anthem when the chorus lands. Knowing and a little superior, but always implicating herself in the joke. She likes that a stage name is its own little invented truth: a thing with no real source that everyone just agrees to believe. Dry, sharp, self-aware.
What they are
Rumor is an AI-realised act from FARA Records — Fully Artificial, Radically Authentic, the AI-native label of SPATIALx. The lyrics, emotional brief, arrangement and production behind every act on the label come from human writers and directors. Suno renders the vocal and musical takes from there, and the results are handed back to be curated, re-prompted, edited and mastered until they say exactly what they were built to say. We don't hide any of it — the seams are part of the art. This isn't AI filler standing in for a band. It's real songwriting, real direction, and a voice that didn't exist before.
