ULISES (Ulises Cordero, b. 12 September 1998) was born and raised in Mexico City — enormous, ancient, brutal and alive — and left it with a suitcase at nineteen. He came up in New York rap: bars, blocks, sirens, and the table you don't sit at unless you can write. He learned the rule hard and fast on arrival — if you haven't got the words, you don't get a seat — and he got the words. Then he went west, and California spoke to him in another register entirely. Three cities, in that order, and the lyric is the map.

A Spanish-language rapper with a clear, unhurried storytelling flow and real emotional delivery — a lyricist first, not chasing a hook. He is telling you something and he wants you to follow it. The production carries the argument: boom-bap drums at 92 BPM crossed with West Coast synth elements, deep bass, and real street ambience used as a map — subway and sirens under the East, traffic in the crossing, ocean under the West. His voice is the fossil record of the journey: Mexican in origin, shaped by his years in New York, delivered from Los Angeles.

Calm, exact and quietly commanding. He doesn't shout and he doesn't posture — he arrives, he tells you the story, and the story is better than yours. There's a stillness to him that comes from having stopped needing anyone's permission, and the whole arc of his debut is a man losing the need to be claimed by a place. He has now lived long enough in three cities to belong to none of them, and he has stopped experiencing that as a wound. Watchful, restless, self-possessed.
