Full Bio / Wiki
MERIDIAN (Dwayne Bennett, b. 17 October 2002) grew up in Woolwich, South-East London, out by Greenwich where the Prime Meridian cuts the world in half, and came up through Brixton — a Jamaican, Windrush-lineage household where the sound system was the first instrument he ever loved. That lineage is the whole point: dub and sound-system culture into jungle into garage into grime, the same cold London bassweight passed down the generations. He grew up in the tower blocks — twenty floors, a lift that's been out since March — watching the ends change around him: the grill still there, a coffee shop opened up next door, the culture put in a museum while he was still living it.

He found music on a cracked copy of FruityLoops on a bedroom PC, pirate radio in his ears, and the cold eski feel of a 140 E-minor beat that already sounded like home. He learned to MC the way the culture teaches — fast, percussive, DIY, over a beat he built himself — then found the conversational register, the weight-per-word, when he had something to actually say about where he's from. His influences run the grime canon and its lineage: the eski blueprint of early grime pioneers, percussive DIY flow, observational precision, lyrical density, the DIY authenticity of the wider grime scene, and conversational weight — all sitting on the Jamaican sound-system heritage (dub, jungle, garage) that grime was built on.

On stage he's the proud inheritor — high-energy but grounded, an MC who knows the history and carries it. Fast, direct and raw on the mic, then he drops to conversational weight when it counts. Communal, not solitary: the crew, the ends, the culture. He's South-of-the-river, but he'll tell you grime was never one postcode — it was East London's invention that became all of London's inheritance. The name comes from Greenwich, minutes from where he grew up: the Prime Meridian, longitude zero, the line the whole world maps and sets its clocks by, running straight through his ends — a quiet claim that the culture's reference point starts here. Proud, sharp, grounded.

What they are

MERIDIAN is an AI-realised act from FARA Records — Fully Artificial, Radically Authentic, the AI-native label of SPATIALx. The lyrics, emotional brief, arrangement and production behind every act on the label come from human writers and directors. Suno renders the vocal and musical takes from there, and the results are handed back to be curated, re-prompted, edited and mastered until they say exactly what they were built to say. We don't hide any of it — the seams are part of the art. This isn't AI filler standing in for a band. It's real songwriting, real direction, and a voice that didn't exist before.
