Playback

Full Bio / Wiki
Playback is the stage name of Nolan Vance, born 5 June 2000 in Boulder, Colorado. He grew up on his cousin's hand-me-down 90s alt-rock CD wallet, absorbing a version of authenticity that was already, by the time it reached him, being sold back to the people who felt it first.

Years later he watched the same cycle repeat itself, just relocated — not on MTV this time, but on a phone screen, the outrage and the ache both retooled into content. The name Playback is the song's own thesis in two syllables: the band is long gone, but the sound got kept and looped back at us.

On stage he holds a calm surface with real unease running underneath it, never once raising his voice to make the point. Wary, hypnotic, haunted — that's the whole performance in three words.

What they are

Playback is an AI-realised act from FARA Records — Fully Artificial, Radically Authentic, the AI-native label of SPATIALx. The lyrics, emotional brief, arrangement and production behind every act on the label come from human writers and directors. Suno renders the vocal and musical takes from there, and the results are handed back to be curated, re-prompted, edited and mastered until they say exactly what they were built to say. We don't hide any of it — the seams are part of the art. This isn't AI filler standing in for a band. It's real songwriting, real direction, and a voice that didn't exist before.
