Every light you see is already gone — and the shining goes on, and on, and on.

MUSIC TRACK STORY

The Permanence of the Stars (Eternity) is VELA's immersive edition of their debut single — the exact same cold electro recipe as the original, given all the time in the world.

Music Track Story

This isn't a remix. It's the identical build as the electro original — same TR-808 programming, same cold analog synths, same F♯ minor, same 128 BPM — just given room to actually breathe. The held piano note in the intro is allowed to ring longer into the dub-chamber haze before anything else arrives.

Edie's whispered verses sit even more submerged, with more space around every phrase. Nia's belt, when it arrives, is allowed to hang and repeat inside the ice rather than resolve and move on. Frankie's harmonies stack and stay stacked. Nothing about the architecture changes — Edie's whisper, Nia's belt, Frankie's shimmer — it's just given permission to not hurry anywhere.

The vocoder-pad bridge, which snaps shut fairly quickly on the other two editions, opens out here into something closer to a hypnotic, weightless plane. “We don't need forever, love, we just need the stars” gets to actually sit in the space it's describing.

The whole point of this version lives in its outro. On the other two editions, the whispered “look again, love, look again” is a clean, dry final gesture. Here it dissolves instead — pads and reverb fading slowly into the deep, an ending that doesn't quite end. Which is, fittingly, exactly what the song has been describing the entire time: light that keeps travelling long after its source is gone.
