The song is a recognition story from its very first line: “수백 번 지나쳤을 텐데 — we must have passed each other hundreds of times, why didn't I see you sooner? Maybe I was always searching in every sky I've looked at.” Nothing dramatic has to happen for this song to work — the drama is entirely in finally noticing.

The chorus asks the other person to simply be that light: “별빛이 돼줘 — be my starlight — shine through all the distance between us, stay beside me, you're the light I've been reaching for.” Right after it lands the shouted fan-chant point — “[BYEOLBIT!]” — followed by the signature “pointeu” hook, a rising three-note motif (A♭–B♭–C) built to be the song's earworm and its dance point.
