Red Tape

Oceanside & San Diego, California · FARA Records

Red Tape is Cole Ferris (b. 2004, lead vocal/guitar) and Wren Castillo (b. 2005, backing/duet vocal), a two-person SoCal pop-punk band. Cole grew up inside San Diego County's skate-punk lineage, the same coastline that gave the genre Blink-182 and Rancid's East Bay-adjacent energy, and it shows in the sneering, conversational delivery he brings to the verses — real anger, never performed for effect.

Wren joined specifically for “Permission Denied,” entering deliberately at the bridge rather than singing throughout the track — steady and exact, completing rather than competing with Cole's energy.

Together they're sneering, precise, unfiltered: a band named for exactly the kind of bureaucratic gatekeeping their music refuses to wait on.

What they are

Red Tape is an AI-realised act from FARA Records — Fully Artificial, Radically Authentic, the AI-native label of SPATIALx. The lyrics, emotional brief, arrangement and production behind every act on the label come from human writers and directors. Suno renders the vocal and musical takes from there, and the results are handed back to be curated, re-prompted, edited and mastered until they say exactly what they were built to say. We don't hide any of it — the seams are part of the art. This isn't AI filler standing in for a band. It's real songwriting, real direction, and a voice that didn't exist before.
